GordonDerr represents the City of Tacoma in several contested land use matters, including long range plans for the Tacoma Narrows Airport, the Point Ruston Brownfields redevelopment, the Point at Northshore (a controversial 860 unit residential development proposed on the existing North Shore golf course); and several other residential subdivisions in the City. The firm has also advised the City on legislative issues related to its critical areas regulations, the shoreline master program update, downtown development agreements, special needs housing, and shoreline permits for a proposed marine terminal facility expansion. GordonDerr attorneys recently obtained a dismissal of a $24 million Federal District Court damage claim (RCW 64.40, 42 USC 1983 and takings claims) arising out of alleged unlawful permitting procedures. The firm also advised the City in requests for records, supervising the response, and exemption review for records dating back almost 30 years.
